The Things Fifth Graders Learn...
Science: We study Mystery Powders, Drugs & Alcohol, Family Life,
Microwonders, and Soils, Waters, and Wetlands. We think and speak like scientists.
Reading: We read to be informed, to perform a task, and for literary
experiences. We read various books from different genres. We respond to our reading with quality.
Social Studies: We study United States history. We read, write, and
investigate like historians.
Math: We study graphs and data, decimals, place value, multiplication,
division, fractions, geometry, and percents. We read, write, calculate, and think like mathematicians.
Writing: We write to persuade, write to inform, and write to express
personal ideas. We express our writing as young authors. We practice using the writing process and practice using grammar
correctly.
Spelling: We practice our spelling skills through weekly spelling test.
We use fifth grade words correctly.
